  • Exhaust system information for smoke?

I am using a flux core welder to learn how to weld and as y'all know it produces a lot of smoke. In some of the videos I have seen there is a large suction pipe or hose above a welding table to collect the smoke and I am wondering if anyone here has any information on a machine like this. In warmer...

oldguyfrom56, I appreciate your information. I have already taken the guard off my grinder, seems cumbersome and hard to work with. I have been a woodworker for many years and I never used the guard on a table saw either, seen people get hurt using a saw with a guard. I know its not kosher but I just...

Northweldor the reason for grinding is I need a smooth finish to paint. It is also going in the house and I just want it to look nice. My first real project is a welding table and I wont worry about grinding those welds. Thanks for your response.

    Grinding disc preference

I would like to ask if there is a preference here for grinding discs to smooth welds. Is there a brand, grit or any certain type preferred?
I have bought a couple from Home Depot but they seem to grind slowly and don't produce a good result. Thanks

    Controlling spatter

I have a flux core welder and when I weld spatter collects on the table. How is the best way to control this? I have seen some people say to use anti spatter spray on the table before welding and wondering does this help. I don't like a rough surface to work on. Thank you for your advice.

    How to weld thicker material

I am a beginning welder and have bought the Hobart 100 to learn with. The parameters for this machine recommend a maximum thickness of 3/16 inch. My question is if I wanted to weld a little thicker metal say 1/4 inch is that a good idea? When I was doing research on this machine I read things like this...

    Ground clamp

I just purchased the 100 flux core welder and it seems that the ground clamp could be better. I am wondering if it is okay to change the clamp and what would be a good choice to replace it with? Also if I want to use an extension cord what amp and maximum length will work. Thank you for any information...
