I agree with DStrasdas that Yoopers picture of diode polarity seems odd....

Maybe or maybe not, and it is not after "12 minutes", its after 2 minutes out of 10 (for a possible total of 12 minutes in a hour) ... What actually causes it to shut down is its own monitoring of internal heat.... In the 7-8 years I have welded with my Handler 140 it has never gone into...

Think you will be pushing at the top end of the 210MPV but doable, if budget is limited then yes it will work, but as MAC says, the IRONMAN 240 would be better or (god forbid) go with stick....

Have you tested the diodes with a OHM meter.....Many times with electronics a component can fail and there is no visible indication it has failed........

You could remove motor and apply 12 volts to it and check it for "torque"..... It could be motor its self in on its way out the door....

Actually your new "wonky" setup looks a lot more like a correct diode stack.... Suggest you use bolts instead of gobs of solder to "connect" things and use a real bolt of proper length and nuts to secure heat sinks together (it is a current carrying conductor)..... With any luck...Last edited by Dale M.; 01-19-2023, 07:43 PM.

Each leg of your diodes (3) should have been good for total of 255 AMPS.... The is no way the output of transformer has enough energy to smoke all 6 of your diodes .... Somewhere along the way you either shorted them out or assembled heat sink wrong....

Any kind of heat transfer grease should be ok.....You also want to be sure the is no paint or grime between contact surfaces of diodes and heat sink...Last edited by Dale M.; 01-19-2023, 11:19 AM.

Welcome to Weld Talk forum.....
At top of page there is a "Radio Button" for "Support" it will move you to a new screen that you can search for manual for your unit.....
IF you don't find your find your unit listed there your best bet is to use "search"...Last edited by Dale M.; 01-16-2023, 01:14 PM.

Your POS and NEG terminals in schematic are actually.....
Additional comment, if you go with full wave bridge rectifier two of the diodes and the "negative" (-) output will not be used....

Manual is just a sketch.... Open up box and actually look at clamp.... Then decide.....

Are you getting any error messages on screen?
Are polarity leads plugged in properly?

Ok..... Now you got me wondering too, it certainly looks like a diode I think we need a response from someone more familiar with this....
EDIT TO CORRECT..... I now believe the big blue device is a heat sink.... Probably best to ignore any of my comments.......Last edited by Dale M.; 01-11-2023, 03:42 PM.

The big blue finned object is a probably a selenium rectifier stack (CR1)..... In picture it appears you do not have diodes in unit.....
