I believe best process is to remove any corrosion by various means (light abrasives), and a final burnishing surfaces with stainless steel brush only used for the purpose and not contaminated by using on other materials...

I keep seeing the flexible neck guns, it appears to be a good idea, but for me I have not yet found a actual need for one....
Go for it, and come back and give us a product report...

But as always had Harbor Freight stepped up in supplying consumable and replacement parts for their new machines in past it was just easier to just replace machine than to try and get parts....

You should probably get at least 3 bids as MAC suggested, but...
A 30 foot extension cord is not unreasonable, IF you use proper cable (wire gauge) and have good plugs and receptacles, rated for application.... However the MUD is probably a real negative to project....

Yes, and I almost fell out of my chair laughing when the "resident sparky" stated not to use NEC code section for welders but to use codes for electric stoves and dryers and AC units.....

Not knowing what "issues" are, I would pass.... There is a additional value in getting a new, better level machine as one that can do GMAW and FACW and has WARRANTY......

Unit is auto sense for input voltage and phase but I would verify the plug is wired correctly to match your source supply.... Just guessing you are 240V ac single phase....

Possibly bad voltage selector switch..... Unplug welder, open cabinet and use volt/ohm meter to test switch...

Personally I would have a bit of rewiring done and bring it up to code for grounding..... Being safe is no accident....Haywire and Rube Goldberg wiring schemes have a way of coming back to bite you....

IF you want to stay with MIG only and can install 240 V receptacle I would suggest the HH 210MVP..... I have the HH140 and its a great machine for my everyday on the property welding but have reservation when it come to things like welding on trailer chassis and things where failure can cause harm...
