  • You can also fab a torch guide as the main reason to use a track torch is controlling tip position and height above your work, with the steady movement useful but secondary. Whatever fits your needs and budget. I love my track torch but could get along without it.

    I wouldn't bother for welding but I do install aftermarket knife switches on my trucks to keep batteries from draining when not in use and for maintenance convenience. It's worth noting disconnecting the battery doesn't necessarily protect anything else nor is there any theoretical reason it should...
