  • Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinets

I don't know if this will get past the spam filters or not, but...

Right before we left for our Arkansas trip, I went through and cleaned out the medicine cabinet. Found quite a bit of stuff that was over a year past expired. So, go check your medicine cabinet and get rid of all the stuff that should not be there.

There're are some sewer rats feeling really good right about now - well they might be dead by now.

To go along with that, it's recommended now to NOT dump it down the drain, as it builds up in the water. I understand that most pharmacies will accept expired meds and will dispose of them accordingly.

A lot of stuff is still good way past the date. Others not so much. If nothing else it makes a good placebo!

How strange that I just happened to check in today...

I actually cleaned out the medicine cabinet again (probably the first time since the photo above was taken) a couple of weeks ago. I wonder if there is a list somewhere that tells which meds wear out over time and which are just dated so you have to buy more in a couple years...

Meds are required to have a 5 year shelf life, the US FDA is the one who demands they be pulled in a year to keep the prices up. The drugs they pull at one year go to Canada and other countries for the remaining 4 years prior to being "officially" out of date. Next time anybody gets an order from Canada look at the expiration date on the box or container. I keep all my drugs in a cool dry temp controlled space and have never had an issue out close to the real expiration. Take it from somepne who buys a lot of weird drugs that seem to be really expensive so I have to do this to afford some of them. Just my .02.
