I’m going to make a light pole that hinges at the bottom using a 20’ stick of 5” schedule 40. I’m going to put 5’ in the ground with two pieces of 1/2x3”x12” long flat welded to the sides 6”. The 15’ section will sit on top obviously and the remaining 6” will have 3-1” bolt holes drilled through the pipe and flat. I’ll be able to knock out the top two bolts and hinge the pole backwards. Anyone know of a better way or something I can improve on? Use channel or angle instead of flat?
