    i need a heavier spring then the hardware store sells locally.for the snap back on my sno blade for tractor.garage springs are perfect but to long i need to cut in half.any suggestions for attachment points after the curl is removed?

    I suspect most springs are formed and then heat treated. Cutting them with a angle grinder will often weaken them, to say nothing about bending a new eye, either cold or with heat. Can you repurpose an old hood hinge spring off a pickup truck. Just saw one raffled off today at my Blacksmith Guild meeting.

        Many auto parts have snowplow springs, they are not terribly expensive. Some of the farm type stores have them too. Northern shows them in catalog.

          Our local ACE hardware has springs about 16 inches long rated in 75, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120 pounds.... Its in section with garage door hardware....
