  • Metal roof horse shelter build

I am going to try to build a horse shelter. The legs will be 3" pipe, the frame made 14 ga. angle iron and a steel roofing. Was planning to weld together frame (wire feed) and use self tapping screws for roofing. the shelter will be 30' x 32'. Was going to use 20 poles (4 rows of 5). Any sugestions or possible flaws you see would be greatly appreciated.

I did a similar project for a wood shed... I'm sure much smaller scale than your horse shed.. and to be built totally out of scrap materials.. so some mishmash of oak timbers and steel construction...

Only difference is I bolted on 1x4" wood plank runners to screw the tin roofing to... Was a lot of work welding on the tabs with holes for the 1x4" runners.. My (scrap) steel for the gable roof was too thick for self tapping screws.. Has held up well..

I coated the bare steel with black automotive undercoating for rust prevention..
