Stainless Roadster Update

(This is my little Garden Art project made from a SS BBQ grill)

Well, today I welded up the front "suspension" and mounted the wheels. For the rear, one wheel I have already has a tire on it (they all will), so I couldn't use it for layout at this point. The remaining rear wheel I'm using is an empty rim (no spokes or hub), to which I tacked in a Chevy spoke hubcap (roadside find)...I'll center a piece of pipe for a hub, and use a three bar support.

Hood/ trunk not fitted, neither are dash, steering wheel, seat, windshield frame, etc. I save those until last, then it all gets shined up! I'll also put a rolled tail pan under the rear, with "lights", a plate, and a couple exhaust tips.

Somewhere around here, I have a genuine "Repeal 18th Amendment" license plate. And no, you can't have it. I know it isn't period-correct if this is a '35 or so car (the amendment being repealed in 1933),. But if you would like to add a touch, I can scan and send you a pic. It has black letters on a dark red background. It looks like this, but mine IS old and was used.

Thanks, Semper Fi, but I'm going with a 'Techno Rod" look...like the high dollar, seldom driven, all new stuff machines rich guys have built to sit under flannel blankets in climate controlled garages until they die...then some other rich guy buys it...etc.

I'm a Rat Rod kinda guy, but this one sort of just happened, what with all that pretty Stainless, and all...and ever since I bent that broiler pan (the grille), its been hanging in my carport, and every time someone asked about it, I'd say...I'll build a little car around it someday...This one is not one of my favorites, because it uses very little "junk" , so doesn't let my imagination go spinning off, like i prefer to do!

...and yes, I checked about just scrapping the SS, but it only gets 10 cents a pound here, and I won't drive my car into that scrap yard (tires, y'know!) for $15.00 or so...especially when I add in the 2 1/2 gallons of gas it takes to get over there (I live in a Rural area...plus...Texas is really BIG!!!)
