Gear pullers and bearing separators have never fit well into drawers for me. I suspect this type of system would work for other types of tools/tooling also.

Neat idea Dave! Thanks for sharing it. I have had the same problem with tools like gearpullers---they just don't fold up well.

Dave, did ya have to turn the hinge rod or the pipes at all? What size are they? They seem to fit just perfect.

I remember way back in welding school...and yeah, they had electricity back then....that we had seats that pivoted out from under the welding table on that type of dog bone hinge.

I guess temperature is relative .... I like to stay in the house if the shop heater can't get the temp up to around 60

                  The hinge

                  Rocky D,

Looks like I just got lucky with the hinge. The center is 0.625", the pipe ID is 0.650" and the OD is about 0.850"......kind of odd sizes. I have either turned or bored on many other shorter similar projects. I love working with heavy wall pipe, anything above schedule 40. It's easier to weld and you are more likely to find a standard size ID.

Work area temp is usually in 50's. It's been nasty lately. I shouldn't complain though last Saturday I had the overhead door open from about 2 PM to 7 PM (that hadn't happened for awhile), high temp outside was about 50.
