Rock...South Pole

I remember reading a story in the Reader's Digest a few years ago about a crew at the south pole. There was a guy in the story that was an all around handy man that helped take care of the place. I sur can't remember the name though. That guy wouldn't be you would it? I saw a pic in the book, and I must say that if my memory serves me right, it sure did resemble you! I was just wondering...maybe you're famous or something.

PROBABLY NOT ME..........I WAS WITH THE NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION IN 1971-1972 WHILE SERVING A STINT IN THE NAVY. I MUST ADMIT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ISOLATION THOUGH. 2 YEARS LATER AFTER MY LAST TRIP THEY ALLOWED FEMALES ON THE ICE...........NATURALLY WE HAD TO GO TO THE NEW ZELANDERS BASE FOR ANY COMFORTS AT LEAST THEY HAD FEMALE COMPANY AND YOU GOT TO TALK TO THEM..........THUS THE SAYING BE SAFE OUT THERE AND DON'T FALL THRU THE ICE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE DONE THEN.........I JUST MODIFIED IT TO BE SAFE..........................ROCK
