Next, I built the stand. I formed the ring from 1/2" square stock. I clamped it to the rim of a 55 gallon drum, got the torch out and started bending. Very time consuming, but effective. I don't have the patience to make the legs myself, so I bought them from King Metals. They are 1/2X1/4 stock. They are welded to the ring, and then I added the cross between the legs for extra support.

Here it is set up. It needs a few coats of high temp paint yet. The logs that are in it are the artificial ones used in gas fireplaces. I picked them up on ebay for $30.00. I am going to make a gas burner for under them. All together, I have about $150.00 in this project. The ones that people are selling are about $400.00.

I am sorry to take so long, broke the cam, had to get a new one,.......this is it, pretty cheap to build, no ashes, no clean-up,....and the wife says, maybe a couple of welding machines.....she calls them welding machines,...maybe they are not so bad,.....as long as I get my carpet. What do you do guys?
