  • Injector Tip Modification

These injector tips are used to squirt paint against a distributor inside a bell cup on a paint robot for painting cars.
For prototype testing we required a longer injector tip.
We wanted to test it right away.
So I cut the end of one existing injector tip and the base off a second one and welded them together to make the longer tip that we required.

The following pictures tell the story.

    1. Half of two injector tips
    2. Welding the halves together
    3. Opening up the center hole
    4. Close up of lathe chuck
    5. Longer tip done

Don, soon you will be doing this (with some up-graded equipment)!
    (Note the anatomical details!).

The Chuck is a Jacobs rubber flex collet chuck. Unlike 5C collects they handle the entire range of diameters very much like an ER collet.
