  • Make-up and Exhaust for a High Efficiency Furnace

Last weekend's project is to connect the make-up and exhaust PVC lines to my high efficiency furnace for my garage addition. The first step was to bend a piece of Aluminum to wrap a piece of 3/4" plywood. The wrapped plywood was installed in the Vinyl siding to give me a good mounting surface for the exhaust bezel.

The next step was to fabricate a brace to support the PVC pipes. First I dipped the end of the Unistrut into a container of Hydrochloric acid (Muriatic acid from Home Depot). The acid does a nice job of removing the zinc so you don't generate fumes when you weld it. Next I welded the base to the Unistrut using a Lincoln 210 MP welder.

The next step was to install the PVC piping and the newly fabricated Unistrut support.

Very professional, as usual, and not something that would be as well done by your average HVAC guy! Let us know how well that furnace works.
