Pipe/Lumber Rack

Well, in the ongoing search to organize my garage, I thought of this idea to get the lumber off my floor and for space to place angle iron, PVC pipe, square tubing, or any other thing that can be placed in the rack.

First I drew out what I wanted.

I had a bunch of 3/4 x 3/4 square tubing, so the rack will be made with it.

Now, cut all the pieces.

Here I'm pre-drilling the holes.

I decided that I needed a third bracket for the shorter pieces of wood or pipe, so I made up a third and installed it.

Nice rack, that will free up space on the floor so you can buy more stuff. That's the way I am.

Whenever I conjure up a new project, I put it on graph paper. It helps keep things in scale which really helps in final measurements.

Here is a link to the program. I think someone here had posted it a couple of months ago, I forgot who it was. Thanks anyway. It allows you to make and design any kind of graph, pie or chart paper you could ever want.

Aweaver, my neighbor brought over his miter saw and we put a metal cutting blade on it. It worked very nicely actually.

AIT, Thanks for the tip, I'm sure that will come in handy for projects down the road. For this one, the only reason I drew it out was so I didn't forget the measurements!! I had it visualized very well but putting it on paper helped.

Unfortunately, I have a long way to go to catch up on garage space. I'd like to be able to fit two cars in my "2 car" garage one day!

Dave ????? cars in a garage ???? why ??? that's where all the tools will go once you get all the other 'stuff' hanging on the wall out of the way...

Cars will only take up precious shop space.. I bet you have a wife don't you ?? yup....and she's convinced you that cars belong in the garage ??? yup...especially hers ??? yea... me too

sounds like a battle lost... oh well... time to build a shop

Garage vs. Shop

It's only a garage until your tools, toys and projects preclude any possible indoor parking...Then it's a shop...But I still tell SWMBO that I'm going out to the "garage" aka " The Shop-arage". I can be forced to shuffle things around like today so I could work on my truck without turning into a Popsicle.

<grin> I hear ya guys. Nah, the wife knows the garage is my territory. I want to make more room so I can accomodate a future welding project.... a sandblast cabinet!

I don't think I'll ever catch up. Too many tools to buy yet. Next house will have a shop!

Unscheduled Truck Repair

Just a little 'ol '94 Ranger, the positive lead from the battery post to the starter had to be replaced-terminal corroded/broke off at starter 15 miles from home--What a joy... Happy Holidays
