I built a nightstand to go with the bed I posted a few weeks ago.

Bought some 4/4 quarter sawned sycamore for the top. Here it is glueing up.

Jim - That looks really great. How thick are the scrolls? Did you powder coat or spray paint it?

Thanks guys. I sprayed it with Rustoleum hammered finish like the bed. The scrolls are 1/8". My local supplier didn't have 3/16" or I would have tried that.

Thanks. I used an AC stick machine. I don't have a planner, so I had to use a 4" belt sander on the top. It turned out pretty nice, but not as nice as it would have been with a plane.

How do you figure your scroll length at the start?
So they come out even I mean.

I just looked at the HF scroll examples and picked one (used their dimenions) that would approximate the opening I had for it and used that. I still had to do some tweaking to make them come out the same though.

Beautiful work, Jim. What kind of rods did you use? Thickness of the metal? Do you have any close ups of your welds?
Reason I ask is my mother wants some furniture built and I am rather new with my A/C Buzz box.
