  • A little addition

    This past weekend I finished a project for a friend and am pretty hapy how it came out so I figured I'd show ya'll. It is an addition to a stock Jeep roll bar.

    Hey ,big file, should have warned us first! Not everybody has that zippy cable modem.

    Did a bunch of O.R.bashing years ago,called those loops 'Oh sh*t handles'. Nice job.

      It does look like an excellant job of fitting in with the existing structure. You must have done a good job of controlling distortion.

        ZACHVY......I LIKE IT........WHAT YEAR JEEP IS THAT ON,..... I ALSO LIKE THE DO NOT BLOCK FIRE LANE ON THE GARAGE DOOR...... I THINK I'LL PUT ON ON MINE...........AND I NOTICED THE COMPETITION'S EQUIPMENT SETTIN ON THE FLOOR............AH THAT'S OK.............IF IT WASN'T FOR COMPETITION NO ONE WOULD BE ABLE TO AFFORD A WELDER EXCEPT THE BIG CORPORATIONS NOW WOULD THEY..............AND YES I THINK IT IS A FINE PROJECT..............THAT ROLL BAR CONNECTED TO THE FRAME OR THE BODY??????????..........JUST CURIOUS.......ROCK

          Sorry about the file size. I thought it would show up like an attachment like all the others.

          The cage is basically a "better than stock" situation, but still not a full cage since it is not tied into the frame. They are much stronger than what the factory gives you. A good example is this video( big file):

          To answer some other questions, the vehicle is a '99 Jeep Wrangler, and believe it or not, the cage was only built using some pictures found on the internet. The picture of the cage out is just when we tacked everything in and the removed it for final welding and then painted. I just did another one this past weekend and I changed a few things just from the knowledge of doing the first. It is mounted in the front to the firewall, proven to be one of the strongest parts of the TJ Wranglers.

          Controlling distortion was fun and it was pretty tight putting it back in after final welding, but everything stretched enough to still fit.

          BTW, regarding the welder, I would have went with a Miller if I had my druthers, but I took an online ad to my local supply house and he matched the price of the SP175+ that I had found. The thing is that the online ad turned out to be a typo so it was $100 cheaper than it should have been! Also, I liked the price point of the Hobarts, but I had people put it in my ear that Hobart was going out of business since Miller bought them. I don't know if any of you company guys have heard that rumor, but I had a few people tell me that. It is obvious that that is not the case now that I have found this site, but this was last January.

            Zachv that was an ugly roll, where did it happen? Looks like Moab in UT. where did you get the pics for your roll bar?

                ZACHV.......AH THAT RUMOR HAS BEEN THERE FOR EVER, I THINK SINCE ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS PURCHASED HOBARTS. THEY ALSO OWN MILLER ELECTRIC, NO WE COMPLIMENT EACH OTHER QUITE WELL..................NOT GOING OUT OF BUSINESS THAT I'M AWARE OF.........................ROCK
