        Planet X,

        Very good work! Do the casters lock? I don't believe I've seen casters like yours. Who makes them?

          They lock, but only the swivel mechanism, the wheel will still roll Dave.

          Gurney wheels gotten off of Ebay here are some shots;

          About 8" from wheel contact patch to mounting plate.

              Great stand and great idea on making the angle just right on the end so you could bolt those casters on.

                  How do you get all the pics projected in the same post? I'm missing something, as I have to create a new post for each digital photo I want to display. I need to be enlightened....

                        This link I think talks about the mix, not sure if the ratio of argon/co2 is still the same but Airgas still uses the labeling "Steel Mix". http://www.weldreality.com/MIG_welding_gases.htm

                        Yes, I have been 'gone' but I would lurk from time to time this stand was the first thing I have built/welded for over 7 months! Weak.
                        I am 90% done with a storage rack for short tubing/cuttoffs, will post it up soon- trying to get the new 'garage' setup so I can work again. Oh, we bought a home out in the sticks and the 'shop' is not too functional right now, but working on that .
                        During my non-welding phase, no 300 shopmaster has come my way nor have the welding companys put out anything that perked my interest you know- industrial capacity transformer single phase mig. So the consumer part of me decided to build a new computer, a Amd 64 based unit .
                        But now the tool/build stuff bug has come upon me again and in fact last weekend I almost bought a Lincoln 175 pro tig unit-course then I saw you and Dan's post over on the Chaski boards and the new Miller 180 Sd was looking **** good- until I found out that a 275precision tig unit could be had for about 700 more clams! And since I suffer from the "bigger is better" pychosis I will wait (save more) to get a machine in this class.
                        Course Mittler Bros. have some really cool sheetmetal tools that I would love to add to my 'new' shop....

                        Ps. To all the PM 300 fans, considering the cost/benie ratio over the welding machines I currently have it would not increase my fab capabilitys as much as an AC/DC tig machine, but if I hit mega-bucks rest assured cost/benefits will not even be a thought.

                          Lincoln Precision 275 TIG

                          Planet X

                          I also bought the 275 TIG but have not run it yet and as Scott V can attest I have had it for quite a few months and have not even started it yet (its a $$$ situation ) Well I finally have the gas cyclinder & purchased a water cooler but alas I have a friend repairing the water cooler & BTW he is taking his sweet time (but don't tell him I said that, gift horse & such ) should be soon though so if I get it going before you purchase yours I'll give you the color blind straight scoop

                            Cool. Yep knew you had kickass machines, look forward to your future creations. I plan on using the air cooled torches from my inverter 'welder' for a time if I get the precision 275 to keep start up costs down.

                              Yea I can't wait til I get into my own house to get to a fabricating I am retiring early next year & hope to start a machine shop/ welding shop side business probably in early 2005. I'm not planning on turning any type of fabricating/ machining down but I hope to specialize in all types of ornamental work. I want to add a cnc plasma cutter to the inventory next year if I can swing it. Really looking foward to that venture Have a good one

                              P.S. Once I start creating I won't be shy about posting some of my work
