  • New toys and projects

I just bought the HF scroll attachment and ring roller. I was impressed with the beds and decorative projects, seen here lately. My daughter designed a bunch of things for me to build, and here is what we built.

Great project. Did you get her to help you weld it?

Great job, Astro...what are you using for the vertical member? I, too, have the HF scroll bender and actually broke it bending scrolls yesterday, but it was easy to fix. The weld on the handle to the block let go. Here is what I built with it. They are chair side tables. Off to the powder coater, now.

Thanks for the compliments. My daughter is ten, so I let her measure and mark the pieces( she says she's not ready to weld). She did have input on design. Rocky, I saw your improvements to the scroller, I'm still using the factory stuff. I reallly dislike the "flat spot'. I was just making scrolls for some plant holders.

Rocky, is that 3/16" material? I find the scroller works better on 3/16" than 1/8" material. Very nice scrolls, no "flat spots".

                  Hey, Rocky,

How much does it cost to get things that size powder coated?

Are there different kinds of powder coating, and if so, what kind do you recommend for steel?

                  Thanks,
                  Chris

So far limited to rust, paint, and blackened oil...

It's 3/16"...I wanted strength and solidness because it was so small. 24" x 6" x 12". I'm learning how to tweak and adjust so that you can fit the scrolls into an area and match 'em up.
I bend them in pairs, together. I get twists on every bend...I'm wondering if the SO bender has the same problems.

Rocky, the vertical is 1" square tubing, 14 ga. Aaron, just stack 2 pieces in the scroller, and you get 2 exact bent pieces of metal. (1/2" width material)

One on top of the other...they're 1/2" so thgether they stand 1" high. The slot is 3/16"x 1" high. Anything wider than 1/2" would have to be bent one at a time.

I just remember suggesting that months back and someone said it wouldn't work. That's part of the reason I never picked up the scroll attachment.
