New guys small welding table

Howdy all...I've been quietly reading the posts here for quite a while and thought I would attempt to post some of my small past projects. I'm ready for criticism , as I have a welder but don't know how to use it.

This is a small roll around welding table, it's 3x4 I think.
1/4 inch top with 2 1/2 in. 11 ga. legs.

I'd like to have one of those, do you have any crossbeams under the 1/4 top?

Not yet

No...no braces yet. My plan is to locate some reciever hitch size square tubing and brace it up between the legs. And have a 3 ft. piece running the width of the table so that I can use a reciever mounted vise or small drill press that I can remove when not needed.
Am I making sense? I know what I mean...just can't type it out.

I understood that, does the top bow at all right now before you brace it up?

Nice design, BR. It should do anything you need it to. Great Idea using a hitch to mount different tools on. !/4" top will take quite a bit without bracing...just depends how much weight you need to put on it.

Nope, no bows yet. I haven't had anything heavier than I could lift on it and haven't had it very hot. So under the light duty use I'm subjecting it to I would think it would hold up pretty good.

Your table looks nice. How much money have you got in it so far? I was thinking on building one with 3/8" plate on top and probably about 24 x 48". I like how you have yours, I might make something like it. I have been kicking around the idea of making mine with part cutting table for when using the torch or else making a separate table for cutting on a smaller version. I liked one I saw here while back with a drawer under the cutting portion to capture the cutoff pieces and also to keep the sparks etc. off of the feet. How tall is your table?

I'm not sure exactly how much I have in it at this point. The casters are from Northern Tool they dual lock..meaning no rolling and the swivel locks too. I think they were about $12. I bought a 4x8 sheet of 1/4 inch for $85 and cut the top off the end leaving me a 4x5 piece for later projects. So I figure I probably have $80-$90 in so far. I considered adding a cutting table to one end that would swing down out of the way when it isn't needed.

The table is 36 inches tall so that it matches the height of my bigger table.

That's a nice looking table. I'm actually only a couple days/weeks away from making my own table very similar to yours. I have the 3/16" plate for the top. Just need to buy/cut everything else.

That's your big table?

It's 48X192 adn I think its 4 feet tall. There is a shelve under half of it and the other half is open to roll the stick welder and a few others under.

I used 1/4 for the top and shelfs and welded 2X2X1/4 angle under the edges to keep for bowing.
I just dont ever try to move it!

This is a picture of my welding table that I completed last week, note the bending brake on top of it. I made this welding table to be portable, note the wheels on the back and is very easy to move. I have been adding things onto it.

Note the pencil/tape measure holder and yes those are horse shoes that I just tack welded onto the legs. They work great for holding welders cables.

Have you installed the receiver hitch yet? If you have let us know how well it works. Is it fairly solid, or does your vise move around a lot. Great idea! I like your bench; it looks solid and clean. Please post pictures. Thanks, Ron

Sorry It took me some time to get a few pic taken of the old workbench. Sorry its a bit cluttered here. But it is PLOW season here in Ohio.
