project books
first...
this site has some excellent projects... look through the past messages..and if you don't see it... post a question... these guys can tell you how to build anything !!! and usually have pictures for it...
websites try....
Links to art, blacksmithing, bulletin boards, home shops, links, machine ads, machines, machine parts, projects, reference material, sheetmetal, software, and more.
as for books... check out this site...
you can also check in the bookstores for welding books... lots of them have projects in the back...
two or three are
Welders Handbook (HP BOOKS) by Tom Monroe and Richard Finch
Racers Guide to Fabricating Shop Equipment by John Block (Steve Smith Autosport publication)
Welding Projects by James Ruck (Goodheart-Wilcox Publications)
most are around 12-15 bucks and have some excellent stuff to try building... found all mine at Books a Million and Barnes and Noble.
also do a google or yahoo search on Metal Working..lots of sites have resource pages that can help you find projects...
that should get you started...
hope that helps
johnMy "project truck" has turned into 'garage art' !!!

The Lincoln Foundation has 2 projects books full of ideas. Prices are very reasonable.
Good luck,
