  • Tig tungsten sharpener

I just finished my Tungsten sharpener.
I bought a cheap 6" grinder, a Cheap HF stand. I just finished making a guide to replace the tool rest. I made three bushings for the three sizes I use, 1/16", 3/32", and 1/8". I milled a flat on the bushings so the set screw wont burr up the bushing making it difficult to remove.

    Tungsten sharpner

Jim can we see a picture of the finished product in action? I bought a little cheap Delta tool sharpner to use for tungstens so far it works pretty good . It runs at a slow speed. David

Here's the jig in action. My cheap HF stand is a little short, I need to put a longer piece of pipe in it, or sit down.

I like your set up better than dropping the big bucks they want for some TIG grinders!

          Tungsten jig

Jim do you clamp the tungsten in the jig or spin it so it will stay at that angle? Looks good to me! No burned fingers and right angle. David

I spin the tungsten with my fingers. two of the bushings have .002" clearance. The 1/16" is sloppy, I drilled it with a #52 drill, the bit wobbled in the cold rolled stock I used out of my scrap box, and made a sloppy fit. I going to make another bushing and drill it with a #53, I hope it will have enough slop to be a good fit for 1/16". The guide slides in closer to the wheel. I had it positioned out so the electrode was wedged on the top of the stand for the photo.

OK Jim. I got it now. Some times I am a little slow.
