A 1000/20 truck rim and tire full of water make an excellent vise stand base, that is almost impossible to tip and CHEAP if you're near a truck stop.
They also make very good mailbox post bases, especially if you live in an area where testosterone enhanced idiots like to run down mailboxes. If their favorite toy is an aluminum bat, the skin of a smashed mailbox can be hammered back out and stretched over some square guardrail with entertaining results.

I need to drill some 3/8" drop-in anchors in my garage floor so I have the ability to secure the stand to the floor yet remove it when not in use. I also should have put 3 feet on it instead of 4. This would allow it to set a little more stable on the uneven concrete. Maybe I will make another with three feet like the material support stand? I'm sure I can dig up a length of 3in pipe somewhere.

Love the Lincoln powermig 200. I don't really have alot of time on different machines so I cannot really compare it. I did breifly use a MM210 at the brothers work once and that convinced me to buy this size machine. You can never have to big a machine. I would have went with the MM210 but was limited by available funds.

Nice work Brian...The only thing I might suggest is some way to anchor the vise stand down. It might really HURT if that thing were to fall on a toe!

Greetings all!! Newbie to the forum and welding in general. I have been reading posts here for a few weeks and decided to join. Thanks to all who contribute constructive criticism, opinion, and knowledge. Here are a few items I have constructed recently for use around the home shop from scrap pieces I've collected.
Vise Stand- 4" square tube, 16ga for main vertical piece and feet, 1-1/2" sq tube 16ga for braces, and a piece of 3/8" plate for the vise to sit on.
Panel Cart- 1-1/2" sq tubing, 11 ga and 1" sq tubing 11ga.
Material support stand- sch40 pipe, various sizes and 1/4" plate.
