That is one cool(or hot) BBQ!
Just think it was designed to hold gas and now it is part of the process to make gas

          Nice!

If I can give a recommendation.
When you make your handles for the swing up lids, make sure that you can easily get to them when the lid is up. I made mine come out and then down. If you have them come just straight out, you wont be able to grab them when the lid is up.

thanks axe... however my doors will only open about 3/4 of the way and will have counter weights. since the doors wont open fully you will still be able to reach the handles mounted on the tops of the doors...

            thanks for the tip!

do you have any pics of the pit you built?

No pictures yet. I have taken some but I dont have a digital camera or scanner.
I'm on my 3rd one and I learned about the handle after the first one I built. It's not like yours. I just used a 55 Gallon barrel on a stand I made from angle stock. Then used flat expanded metal/steel for the grill part. The charcoal actually goes in the barrel on a grill so air can get under it. I did use the hatch method like you instead of cutting the barrel in half.

Luke, just one thing,, tie the bottles off so they cant fall over. Ask Franz what happens when one falls over and comes loose. That oxygen will go right out thru the side of that building. Make something to tie them to the wall and in that size garage you should be able to reach ok, if not add another piece of hose then you wont have to move them.

Nice catch Sberry, I think I gotta start wearing my glasses when I look at these pictures.
Those nasty Oxygen bottles will take off like a rocket when the valve gets busted off.

                      nice BBQ.

how do you make the doors seal? or is it that important that they seal well?

the doors will have astragals (I just had to use that word again Rocky ), though an airtight fit isn't necessary.

                          Jack,

I thought Astragals were George Jetson's wife and daughter..

                          Am I missing something??

I thought Astragals were the dogs girlfriends.

does it matter at what height the fire box is attatched?

Well, it took Jack 2 days longer to arrive with his Astrigals than I had expected.
Is he slowing down, or too busy looking for another new applicable word in the dictionary?
