More Metal bending brake pictures

Rocky D, as you requested I am posting some more pictures of the project. Some of these pictures contain my son (Logan) because since I needed him to hold the machine he wanted to be in the picture.

One or two might be a simulation of the complete machine. Also, the bolts that you see in the pivot point are still just the ones that I used as clamps during the assembly. I won t be able to complete this until next weekend.

Almost done,these last two show you the location of a couple my weld beads on the connection between the bed leaf and the pivot point bracket. Im hoping that these are clear enough so that the obvious oscillation that I did is somewhat clear.

Ya know, Dan you are a great teacher. Not every one can present a subject with so much clarity as you do. It is truly great gift to be able to teach.....and I am enjoying your class, immensely!

Cannon Power Shot A40. I guarantee you that the quality of the picture is 100% a by product of the camera.

Also, I haven t forgot about the flat bar demo that I promised you. My schedule has just resently become incredibly tight , so I m not having near the amount of time that I use to have for doing such thing. Please be patient with me and I will get to it ASAP.

Im confused, what peice of 2" X 2" X 1/4" angle are you referring to? There are only 2 peices of angle in the entire project. One is the 3" X 5" X 1/4" and the other is 1 1/2"X 1 1/2" X 3/16". I know if I would have given you the bill of materials like you asked for there wouldn t have been this confusion. Just what I ve done to this point consumes quite a bit of time. If I have a chance maybe I post one soon.

By the way, my next project that Im thinking about trying to attempt is a small set of rolls for flat bars and maybe round stocks. If I have success in coming up with a design that doesn t require a high amount of expensive tools, especially a milling machine. I might try another fun class project with it.

My mistake, Dan. I work alot with 2 x 2 x 1/4 angle. Thanks for the correction. Is the angle just a stiffener for the clamp plate, then?

Yes, Rocky D the 1 1/2"angle is just a stiffener for the clamp plate. Go back to pic 4 in the series of pictures on this thread, I gave you a close up look of were the 1 1/2" angle is located. Also, in a previous post I mentioned it and dimensions that I use to locate it on the clamp plate. To easily find all the info that I given on the brake just do a search on this forum for brake. If you don t have the 1 1/2" angle, your 2" will work too. By using the 2" you give a little bit up on how short of a peice you can bend over the top of this stiffener.
