  • another finished bucket for the 318

Well, I just finished a Handy Bucket for a 318. This one fits on the JD 100, 200 and 300 series with two spool valves and a front hitch for the snow/grader blade. The bucket is the same as the first one I build except 8 inches narrower. The challenge on this one was to construct a hook up point to the a frame for the lift. This is what I came up with.

    Have fun all

Hi Arc thanks, the bucket material is 1/8". The top edge and bottom cutting edge is 5/16". I have stress areas that are reinforced with 1/4".

Rock...yes actually I have. I thougth I posted them to this board but I just did a search and didn't see them. Will was kind enough to let me dig up his yard..but he made me fill the hole back up...LOL. It was just a little over 4 feet deep. I will try to post the pics again to this thread so you can see it.

I have a web site started to give info on these buckets but lots of other things to do has kept me from finsihing it. Hopefully by July I will have it up.

                        Bob,

Looks great! Glad you posted that last pic with the cylinders on. I was having trouble seeing how it would mount on the quick-attach on my 318.

Also, that lift cylinder looks like the one on my snow blower. How high will it lift the bucket? And what's the stroke on the dump cylinder?

                        Later,

Mick, the lift on the 318 is much higher...then I got out of my X475 bucket. It's close to 20 inches. The stroke on the dump is 8 inches.

I think this might slide onto your snow blower A arm. I know it does for the plow blade A arm. And the lift cylider is the one that JD uses for the lift on that setup. If your snow blower is different I can make one to fit it. Or design a completely different unit to eliminate the original factory A arm.

                            Thanks...

                              Bob,

I'll look at that A arm on my blower. I doubt the Deere guys used something different from the one on the front blade unless there was a need. The blower's a lot heavier than the blade, so if the one from the blade is strong enough, the one on the blower will probably work, too -- even if it is different.

I really do like the way it looks. Really good, simple design.
