Royal Fee your project looks nice, problem is showing things like that will make the rest of our wives see them and decide we should be giving up our (important projects) and making something like that for them. Could you at least say something with the picture like if you guys want to make things like this you will need a new bigger welder then you already have and possibly a plasma cutter? That might help us all out and make us feel better while we are making a few of those honey- do projects.
Duke very nice birdbath...actually thought it was a table at first...that design works for either...also like that bench in the background...nice scale to it...and the ball feet was a nice touch.

The bowl is ceramic and the finish is with what my neighbor (the Potter) calls white slip. I think its clay thats thinned down and applied prior to bis(sp?) firing. The pattern was carved into the white slip revealing the clay under. There is no glaze on the bowl and yes it's for the outside. Actually, I donated it to the Blacksmith Assn. here and it will be auctioned for our annual conference fund raiser so it may end up inside somewhere.
The finish on the steel and Rebar is wire brush and a spray urathane clear gloss. That cheap stuff shines right up and is easy.
Oh yeah, Rebar Rules...
gnewby you will need to purchase a large new big MM welder(one of each tig/mig/stick), large amounts of steel for tables etc., a cold cut saw, band saw, three new 4.5" grinders, a sizable plasma cutter, a powder coating machine and oven, a large air compressor with sand blaster, and a 36x36 steel building in order to make similar projects.....Hows that!
Royal fe, you might have her telling me that would break the bank, and she would probably tell me I would need to go get a second job, to afford everything you mentioned. Thanks for the sugestions though. Gerald

Nice work on the birdbath, this weekend I am going to work on a project for my wife. We were at the cemetary last year and saw a plant holder that was attatched to the top of a grave stone.
The thing is kind of like a box with bent legs that friction fit onto the top of the stone. My wifes aunt saw one and was going to buy one for about $75.00.
You know the rest, my wife told her aunt to save her money as I could put one together better for her and install it.
I will send some pics on the finish project later.
