  • MM251 short arc pics

Ok guys here are some pics of welds I have been doing on my bucket project. I wanted to try some out of position stuff also. I could have turned the bucket to do all in the horizontal if I wanted to. I figured I need to learn sooner or later and they actually didn't come out to bad.

This is a vertical down I did in a place that I could only see the back edge of the outer piece. I could not see the joint where they come together. Next one I build I will remember to weld this piece on before the back...lol

Oh and this was 1/4" to 1/8"

          Ok...last one.....and you guest it.....another horizontal....fillet.....

again...sorry about the fuzzy pics guys...but maybe you can still tell something from them.

The setting were all done at 17 volts and 260 wire speed. except for the one vertical. I backed the volts down to 16.5 there.

Drive up north about 2 1/2 hrs and I gladly let you practice some 7018 overhead for the day.

You know...would be nice to see your set up someday....I forgot you were here in Michigan. Not sure you would want to trust me that that 7018 rod and one of your projects though...lol And haven't done a mig overhead yet. I did plenty of that years ago when I was repairing my flat bed trailers with stick...

Sorry, but I need to let you know that your settings look a little cold. I don t have my new MM 251 yet to help you with your settings. I probably should have it though by the first week of June. Just waiting on our tax return so that I also have enough to get the wife her new saddle that she needs for her youngest horse. It out grew the saddles that she uses for her older Arabian.

Anyway, your welds should wet out better with a voltage setting around 18 to 18.5 ,and for the material thicknesses that you are welding on I would have the wire speed set somewhere around 280 to 300 IPM.
MigMaster 250- Smooth arc with a good touch of softness to it. Good weld puddle wetout. Light spatter producer.
Ironman 230 - Soft arc with a touch of agressiveness to it. Very good weld puddle wet out. Light spatter producer.

Thanks Dan. I actually tried that hotter when Will was over but I was punching right through the 1/8" stuff. It actually left a sag on the backside of the 1/8". Could be my techique needs some work to fix this at your settings. I will give it a try this evening.
