12" xstr. pipe bridge into wideflange tower. All holes lined right up. Welds on pipe were full penetration, AWS prequalified, without back-up.

I am glad most of those days are over for me. I would be bored to tears after about 30 minutes welding up those big joints. I could tolerate the ********, especially in California when its about 10 degrees here. Any nice girls to look at from there?

Ya, in our part of the country they always want to do that in the middle of the winter. Its sooo much fun. After about 2 weeks the paycheck thrill wears off and I realize why I quit my job.

My wife's cousin was a pipeline weldor for Brown & Root in the 60s. He told me that working on pipelines in Alaska that he would sweat while welding and when he tried to get up, his clothing would be stuck to the ground from the sweat. He stayed about a week and quit and came back to Texas.
