First you need to scan picture in a low resolution mode so it will fit th reply page. Name it something you can remember, cart1, for instance and save to aan appropriate folder on your PC. When you are ready to post it, click on the browse button at the bottom of the reply window and select the correct file. You can also paste the location in the body of the reply if you have more than 1 picture to display. Your scanner manual will guide you through the scanning process,

Farmer,
Read through the FAQs (see menu above).
Do a search for posting images.
I'd use Windows Explorer: Create a folder.....say... welding and subfolders if needed.
Choose a format like JPEG or others that are acceptable.
Scan 'em in, name them something you will recognize.
Make sure each image is less than 103kb.
Lighten, crop or other as needed.
You said short and simple.

Skinner, Any good image program should let you reduce your pictures. I like paint shop pro. You can either reduce the picture or you can just cut and paste into a new image. Just cut out what you want and paste it.
Farmer, digital cameras are really cheap these days. You could get a good one and make transfering you pictures quick and easy. Think of the money you would save in film and developing. I would use the regular camera when you want a hard copy of the picture and use the digital camera for internet pics.Art is dangerous!

Skinner,
I don't have XP but open an image, try properties under file menu in whatever program you are viewing the images. If resolution is shown to be 300 pixels change to 250 etc., save and check file size. You are looking not to exceed 103kb. Resizing the image also changes the file size, which sometimes automatically changes when you change the resolution.
If resolution is not shown in properties try checking Help/index/resolution.

I tried what you recomended the only thing it will let me change is the size but in order to get it small enough you dont have any picture left.. I cant seem to find out how just to change the resolution. I think I am just about ready to give up! I could have finished half of the unfinished projects that I have started in the time I have spent trying to figure this outdoin the best I can with what I got

skinner,
Don't give up.
Try a search of this site. This has been discussed numerous times. Several links have been given for software. Some is even free and downloadable. Some software even has options such as"optimizing" which automatically lowers the resolution.

Almost There
Had the son give me a few pointers on this computer stuff, I do not spend enough time working with the programs to learn how to work them. I finally got a picture to post but can not figure how to get it to enlarge so it can be seen more readily.
The V ditcher is used to run a small ditch thru low spots in the field to a drain, so excess surface water can be drained. I began to design one, went to the scrap yard for material and Voila !! What is sitting on the top of the heap, complete with hydraulic cylinder. Picked it up for $40 Cdn. I put about 1 hour of refit and there it is.
