I need to find the specifications and chacteristics of the different types of tubing d.o.m. , elec. weld. , and 4130 chromoly . I also need to know if these will weld satisfactrly to eachother. Also if anyone knows of good buys on these let me know where they are. These are in short supply around here and finding anyone who has ever even heard of them is equally as hard. Another question . What type of tubbing is used for auto exhaust.

The dom and the erw tubing will weld to one another fine.

The 4130 is different since it's chromoloy. I've not had any of that kind of tubing personally but have read of guys making cages/links/etc out of it and heat treating 4130 after welding is always discussed. If you go to the miller motor sports website and look at the bb there and search you'll find some posts about 4130 and how to heat treat the welded areas with a torch and some kind of heat temp crayon thing.

Welding 4130 & heat crayon thread

exhaust tubing, at least the aluminized type of exhaust tubing I'm familiar with, is just mild steel. most I've seen is either 18ga I think, which welded fine with my mig, just had to move pretty quick since it's kinda thin.

    good luck.
