  • Tonights garage project.

I had someone ask me to make a cheap knock-off of the TBT rear bumper and tire carrier for a Jeep Wrangler. I am almost done, just have to do the lower tube, weld the mounting plates on, and clean it and paint it.

Anyway, any comments? And, no, I will not be making these on a regular basis--lotta work!

      ZACHV,

      Very nice looking job!!!
How about a grease fitting on that pivot?

Now, bring that jeep up north of you and plow my driveway, ok?

I use a JD2 bender that can bend up to 2" OD tube. I use a Lincoln SP175+, but would love to have a MM210, if anyone wants to give me one.

Old Dude, the is a grease fitting thread on the back side. I am torn as the use it or not because that setup is actually a 1000lb. rated trailer axle and hub with a seal, so I figure if I just grease the bearings good they should last forever since it will only be swinging 90 degrees at a time. I will probably put the fitting on though, just to make the purchaser feel good. Oh, and my Jeep is awaiting a full frame-up rebuild so no snow plowing for now. This was for a customer's Jeep.

Zach, it don`t look cheap to me! And you know he`s gonna want a match for the front. Looks good.

What size and thickness tubing are you using? I`ve been thinking about some new bumpers for my ole jeep, but I don`t have a bender

                  Here is the bender:

I like it alot, and it will work until I am ready to upgrade to a Model4 if I ever get to that point. BTW, I have a buddy that just picked up a dealership with Pro-Tools that makes a similiar bender that I actually think is of better quality. If anyone is interested you can reach Tim at 877-HAGARS-1.

No, actually in two nights, but I putter around pretty good. I have maybe three actual hours into it so far.
