  • 3 point hitch tower for dethatcher

Well I finally had a day off and got my gas tank filled. I have been wanting to convert this pull type areator to a 3 point hitch. This is my first attempt at building anything for the 3 point and I learned quit a bit about it. Luckily if you cut something wrong you can usually just weld more steel back on. Which is what I did a few times

Will, the guys at BOC told me today they seen you yesterday. Drooling over that tig welder I bet.

I tried out the Hyper Therm 190 and realized quickly I will need the 380.

Nice job! It's amazing what you can do with a little ingenuity and a welder.

Arbo, thanks. This was a fun quick project to fill my day off today. I have several implements I want to build for the 3 point. I will post as I get them completed.

              Nice project!, Bob

That looks like a job that you can draw, measure, draw measure but there is no substitute for putting a piece in place and seeing if you get the desired result.

              Keep the Pics coming!

Your right Dave, I had a hard time visualizing what I was going to do exactly. I really just started grabing scrapes and tacking things together till I had the geometry working.

                  nice work

                  nice work bob...

but does the snow get so thick there you have to dethatch ??

you should think about centipede... much easier to deal with

but then again it doesn't melt off either

like your work and your welding puts me to shame

HAHA....John we haven't had much snow here in Mid Michigan this year. So far all the bad stuff they predicted for us never made it. Figures, I get the tractor and blade and we get no snow.

I plan on a building a core aerator yet and a Johnny type bucket with hydrolics. Should be some fun projects.

Thanks for the complements. My welding seems to be improving with time. Practice, practice and more practice seems to be paying off some.

Bob, Nice work. I guess you got a good jump on the season! The welds look good. Hope it will pull without the tire chains---they are tough on the turf.

I was at BOC to pick up a new welding jacket. My old one looked like it had been hit with buckshot, and it had shrunk after 10 years of washing....new one fits better.

It looks like we will need to make a trip to Aaron's place next weekend to try out his new TIG welder.

                        Neat project!

what type of JD is that. Looks like a diesel, but not a 18hp one. Is this a 400 series. Yes I have been looking at them. I have a 10 acera horse farm and need to upgrade to a real piece of farm equipment. Oh, by the way, neat design!
                        Thanks

Is it about time to change the text above your avitar?

                            Aaron,

I don't know about the creative side but Pic of you and the new machine would be nice. That might be a challenge to fit into the allotted space. Look at this way: Now you have yet another project.

Thanks Will, Whenever Aaron is ready for a demo I am ready.

BOC gave me a good quote on the Hypertherm. Lower then what I have seen on the internet. They say Hypertherm days are do the second week in April so I will probably wait till then.
