You will have trouble getting parts, but if all it needs is a torch, I would try to get it running. Lots of history there. My cousin still uses an old Hollup stick welder that my uncle bought in 1946, so there's no reason to chuck it out yet. Several places online to buy torches and consumables. 60% duty cycle is probably somewhere near 275-300 amps, so you basically should have 100% for most work.

      Hi Janet
Can you find the serial number on that old Sureweld Welder? Before 1979 Miller Electric made some Sureweld machines for NCG. They were big old machines like the 330 ABP.
      Have a great day

Matt, I have found the serial # for the welder. It is GA2-180 and the model # is GA-200. The company that made it is National Cylinder Company. At least, that is what the tag states.
Thanks for getting back with me.

Thanks for getting back with the information. I Look at the cross reference for that model number and it doesn't come up. The serial number is not a Miller Electric serial number. That machine was made by someone else. I'm sorry I can't help more. Thank you again.

Janet, contact Arc Products. They have picked up lots of discontinued machines for parts & service.

              Janet,
Sounds like a great machine. I have some old antique stuff that is cool but no welder. I have a 1950 shopsmith that my uncle gave to me and his uncle gave it to him. I also have a 45 year old hossfeld bender that I got from a retired horseshoer. Welcome to the board and where are ya from?

Interesting welder. The Hollup I referred to earlier was made in 1946 and the name plate says National Cylinder Gas. Similar style except the leads plug into taps.

                        Hollup AC Welder

I don't mean to high jack this thread, but i JUST AQUIRED a very old Hollup AC welder Model N20 and found this thread via a Google Search.

The guy I got it from says it still works. I thought I would clean it up and give it a try. I have no welding experience, but I'm retired now and getting into car restoration and have a reasonable amount of mechanical/electrical knowledge and skill.

Is there any advice specific to this welder that anyone has to offer. I thought I would just open it up and check the connections and check for any rust or corrosion issues.

                        Thanks for any suggestions!!

I dont know about this machine but seeing you are just retired and doing those kind of projects I would be speeding right down to snatch up a 187.
