  • What is a Miller Snap Start?

    Hi,
Does anyone know what a Miller Snap Start is? I tried to find info on the Miller web page but I didn't have any luck. Is it an add on high frequency unit?

    Thanks

The miller snap-start and snap-start II were add-on option boxes for miller's maxstar 95,152, and 175 dc inverters. They incorporated high frequency, preflow, postflow, and remote amperage control. That series of the maxstars as well as the snap-start are no longer in production but can be found from time to time on ebay. The newer line of maxstars (200dx) incorporate those features without need for any add-on circuitry.

The owner's manual is still available on the miller website (as I guess all of their products are). Go to www.millerwelds.com/main/products and click on the 'Owner's Manuals' banner on the lower right. Scroll through 'Select A Model Name' for snapstart II. Download, and enjoy. It will be up to you or someone from Miller to educate us on what the difference is between the snap-start and snap-start II.
