Russell, I hate to tell you this, but I got it the next day! It might be because of the holiday. Glad you got the 9000x. I'll have to wait until next Christmas if I get one....
It hasn't been getting dusty mainly because I have it covered. I did get my square tubing in yesterday and I guess that I'm all set to start. I have some wheels from an ultralight airplane that I will use, but I had to get new bearings for the wheels. Looks like I'm ready to go. I made a rough sketch that I will try to improve on and hopefully by the weekend I can make a good start on it.
Hope you had a good Thanksgiving, but I know it would have been better if the 180 would have come in. It's probably for the best, though. If it had come in, you would have been out there with it all day today, and in the doghouse tomorrow because you didn't spend time with the family. It's one of those 'been there, done that' sort of things, so I speak from experience.
Well, that's usually what happens to me. I had to pinch myself a few times when the guy called to tell me it was in. As a matter of fact, the machine beat the tracking info.
I think that I would like that helmet. I'll trade you my digital camera for it. Just think - you could have that avatar you've always dreamed about!
I had enough of turkey, ham, yams, peas, rice dressing, plain dressing, deer sausage, deer roast, apple pie, peanut butter pie, pecan pie and ice cream. And broccoli casserole and every kind of bread you could think of. I'm still full!
I'll try to take a few pictures of the cart as I go along, but I'm not promising anything. And, if you trade the helmet for the camera, I won't have anything to take the pictures with!
Russell, I'm sure glad that it came in, but sorry to hear about the delay. You can still use the 150 amp torch. At least you have that one. That's the one I used so I wouldn't abuse the 125 amp while just starting with tig. I am still drawing on my cart plan, so nothing new there. I thought I'd get more done this Sunday when I finally had a day off, but noooooooooooo! I had to put up Christmas lights and stuff. But I guess since she let me get the Syncrowave, it was the least I could do.
The wheels come off a busted up ultralight airplane. I have four but three are one size and the fourth is a bit smaller. They are pneumatic.
Well at least you can stick weld with it. With that new helmet and a new welding machine, you should be able to raise your electric bill somewhat.
28 degrees? Man, that's way too cold for me. I wanted to move to where Rocky D was. I thought it would be warm there, but I see he has a fireplace so I guess it gets cold there too.
Freezing rain? I'll bet you didn't even notice it when you were unloading it. Have fun and let us know how you like it.
Russell, nope, I didn't crash it. They were in some junk I found while doing some work for a friend. They had loads of aluminum tubing that they use for the wings and stuff, but I didn't take any of that. I wish now that I would have. There was a small business operating in a building owned by a friend and when it came time for them to move out, they took what they wanted and left the rest. I wish I could go back in time - I'd take it all!
The only time I like to hear the word 'ice' is when someone is asking if I want some more ice in my Coke or tea.
I don't think you'll have any trouble with the stick welding. I'd get some 6013 or 7014 and try it out. Remember to switch to electrode positive or AC for stick.
Hope your weather turns out better. It's cold here so I didn't do much tonite on the cart.
I ordered some aluminum rods from MSC. The price was ok for the rods but the shipping was a bit steep. I got it the next day, though. I think it cost me about $8 for the shipping. I had some other stuff in the order with the rods. There's better sources for filler rods.
By the way, now I got a shop full of plants and trees because of the cold weather. Sometimes I think SHE thinks the shop is hers!
I should have never put a heater in there!
If you can, email me and I'll tell you more about the cart and the wheels. My email is in my profile....
