I just did a search of Home Desperate's web site, and they show a Campbell Hausfelt helmet,
This is definitely NOT a gas welding helmet. What they do not show is what shade of filter plate, if any, that comes with the helmet, so you may need to buy the filter plate seperately.
The helmet certainly falls in the catagory of cheap.
Just one hint here, do NOT depend on what the goober in the orange apron tells you, they have no knowledge of welding.

Matt, Home Depot finally came back up; what a sorry-assed site they have, offereing only this one CampbellHausfield helmet for $19.95 but it should do fine for your friends to watch.
They don't even show their Lincoln stuff. And that link may not work. site is very slow to load. Hmmm, kinda reminds me of the store!cutter

Why not go to your local welding store and pick up a full face Jackson Shadow hood. The welding stores around here sell them for about $35. I do a high percentage of my MIG and TIG welding with one of these hoods. I ve had the hood that I use at work for about 10 years now, and it still has the original head gear on it. So, I consider this an inexpensive, durable hood that will give you years of use.MigMaster 250- Smooth arc with a good touch of softness to it. Good weld puddle wetout. Light spatter producer.
Ironman 230 - Soft arc with a touch of agressiveness to it. Very good weld puddle wet out. Light spatter producer.

Hey freeman2u, I bought that same helmet a few couple of months ago and I have had no problems with it. I have never been flashed yet. I think they are a little too sensitive because looking at a flourescent light will make mine darken, but other than that, it has been great.

Dan is right (again), I have a Jackson shadow w/#10 lens that I got off ebay for $20 new. Its the second one I have had (sold the other one with my HH135), it's for visitors (I mostly use my optrel) but I do use it sometimes myself. Its very well made and not very much money.

What shade is commonly used for mig welding? My helmet came with a shade 10. I'm running a 110volt unit, is this adequate? I've had no problems with it at all, and can see the weld puddle just fine. Should I move up to a shade 11 or 12?
