If I want to be able to weld aluminum and TIG is the only way to go, then what is the most economical brand and model? Keep in mind I am the furthest thing from a professional. Just some hobby projects at home, but I do have 220 VAC service in the garage.

With a good preheat you should be able to weld 3/16" aluminum with your new toy (Syncrowave 180) that your going to be getting.MigMaster 250- Smooth arc with a good touch of softness to it. Good weld puddle wetout. Light spatter producer.
Ironman 230 - Soft arc with a touch of agressiveness to it. Very good weld puddle wet out. Light spatter producer.
