Sorry to ask a stupid question but here goes anyway.

My brother gave me a welder and I wondered, being new to welding and have not taken a class yet. How thick of metal can the welder weld in a single pass. Craftsman model??? Stick welder 25-125 amp 220 volts.

I know it is not a very large welder but I only want to tackle small projects at first before I move onto bigger and better things. Any ideas on what the machine can and cant do or what can I expect from it??

    Thanks for the help

Yup, it says 220 volt on it. even have the power cord to plug into 220. I thought it was odd that it was 220, but it is.

A single pass fillet with an 1/8" rod at least 3/16" thick material. also, I assume this is an AC output machine right?
MigMaster 250- Smooth arc with a good touch of softness to it. Good weld puddle wetout. Light spatter producer.
Ironman 230 - Soft arc with a touch of agressiveness to it. Very good weld puddle wet out. Light spatter producer.
