Oh yea, I got a chance to play with it today and it's great. Should've really got one a long time ago.

I just got the kit today (dont even have the machine hooked up yet) and mine is a 28cu ft bottle. I got the kit for the hood and cart, the bottle was just a bonus. I don't plan on using much solid wire anyway so it will probably do the job for me. I was really impressed that it came prefilled.

I would get an 80 for a 175 machine as a minimum. I have 2 125's and a 250 on my big machine but I do have an 80 oxy bottle for portable, and that size would go good with a smaller feeder. Its still handleable but would give some weld time.

    tractor supply gas cylinder

In response to Scottdawgs question, I am confident that these tanks are 20 cu. ft. I had a small one like the one he describes that I got from Lake Welding here in Muskegon. Same size. I eventually got the larger one, too much fiddling around with those small tanks...

I missed the deal but I'm pretty sure they included this one:

I looked at buying this cylinder separately but didn't like the fact that it wasn't threaded to receive a safety cap. I guess it isn't necessary for small tanks, but I'd still rather have one.

    Mac,
Well that is what I was told, when I got my tank refilled. I told them that when I get around to purchasing the bigger tank could they refill my original C25 tank with Argon an they said they would just vacuum the tank an' then refill with Argon. 'No big deal' is how he put it.

I've never had a tank vacuumed before. Is it a big deal? I'm wondering because after filling with pure Ar after being at atmospheric pressure with 75% Ar, it seems like the amount of CO2 in the tank would be insignificant.

    Rob,

Good idea on the 20CF tank. A small cylinder of Argon would be handy to have. Nothing against Hobart on the tank size...it is a package deal and it comes as it comes. Some folks do mostly flux welding anyway.

    TonyC,
Yup the tank is small but it would've been nice if it was a 40CF at a minimum, however that was not the case.

So, it works out. Hobart put together a nice kit.
Merry Christmas and Happy, safe holidays to all!....
    Later...

Either way those cylinders are a joke. Even for a novice hobby welder they are too small to bother with. The 20CF isn't much bigger than your standard propane bottle. I can't imagine THAT lasting long enough to do much of anything. I went out and bought a 60CF locally.

Yes that is the bottle TSC sells....that is not the same bottle that is included in the HH175 package deal that has the bottle/cyl of C25 included. I got the same kit a few months ago and it is only a 20CF bottle. Please find below a link to the package deal.
