  • Gas cylinder sizes

I found a site that may help those trying to buy gas, the question always comes down to the tank size and capacity. This site has an interactive gizmo that shows the tank sizes available for the different types of gases. Not all suppliers will stock all the sizes and may even have some not listed, remember this isn't put forth as the end all of tank sizes, just some info.

Good stuff on the gas bottles. It answers questions that I am not yet smart enough to ask.

                Thanks,

                Gary

I tried a 250 or 300 cu ft cylinder on mm251, and in my opinon it made the welder feel unsteady when rolling it outside. The dealer took it back, canceled the lease, and let me buy a pair of 125s.

It's not always economics. With the two cylinders I don't feel the need to replace the cylinder when its down to 500 psi so I won't run out in the middle of a project. I run it empty and refill at my convienence.

That is good he let you switch over like that. I have a 300CF bottle on my 251 and it seems to be pretty stable. Although I use it on a smooth shop floor and I don't wheel it around very far.
I was wondering about turning in an empty bottle. Should you leave a little gas in it? Someone told me to do that once. I can't remember why. duh. ..... Jim

500psi is a lot of gas, 80+cf bottles. i ran one of my 80cf down to 0psi, and it still was putting out gas.

Same here, my 80CF argon is down to zero and was still going when I stopped, also one of my 80CF C25's is down to 200CF. I phoned the dealer I get gas from to find out the cost to trade up to a 125CF and he will trade up to 150 but reserves the 125's for lease. Plus I would only save about 10% per fillup going to 150's over 80's. I think I will just plan on going to get refill's more often, as I am retired it's not that big of deal.
                            Regards, George
