  • Auto lense problems and questions

In the last couple of years I have had a couple of the auto darkening lenses and they are great. the problem is they quit working after a few months. I am a hobby welder so sometimes my equipment goes without being used for a while and is stored in a unheated and unairconditioned building. I heard that cold weather was hard on them. I have not had one of these for awhile and I would love to buy another one if I new it would last. Are the new ones more durable? Is the cold zapping these things. Thanks, This is my first post here and I'm glad I found it.

In cold don't remember critical temp. LCDs stop working but are ok when warmed again. I'm guessing the Liquid part of "L"CD gets too viscuss in cold like many things. If your using solar cell charged auto darkening filter your problem could be depleted battery which :30 minutes of bright light might solve. Next guess is could be humidity problem but the LCD auto filters with solar cells are well sealed aginst that but if it uses replaceable battery could be problems. Battery leak?

Some ultra cheap made in Korea auto darkening filters have short lives.

If I had to store auto darkening filter in unheated shed, would store it in amo box.
