I finally got activated and get to ask some stupid questions
First off I think this is the coolest site since I found www.ktmtalk.com(just got back into riding again). There's a lot of good information and honest opinions to be found here and are more than willing to help out.The nonwelding people like me.I've done some gobbing and have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express several times
Thanks to all.
Like a lot of others I'm wanting to get into tig welding. There's just something intriguing about it.I've always fooled with motorcycles, cars etc.So I'll be doing aluminum, stainless and cast and tubing later
Here's what I'm look at to put in my garage.I'll have to run the power to it for the welder.Depending on the choice
I'm looking at a Esab 350 w/tourch,cooler etc. it all works $900.00 about a 1996 model it's a big unit! Will it use a lot of eletric even staying in the lower amp side (200 and under)
A syncrowave 250 tig runner w/tourch,cooler ect. $1400.00 maybe less.I think a 1999 or 2000 model.
Has much changed from it to the new models and power consumption?
New sd 180
Dynasty 200 dx sound nice.I would to have a miller. But,Thats a lot of money
And the Thermal Arc 185.Thats saving a lot of money. It's got some really good reviews here!Is the biggest downfall compared to the dx 200 not being able to use 110v? I'm sure the portability would be nice for the inverters
Is there a lot of demand in the medical and resturant field, race track(not on frames for a while)? Is this where the inverters come in or not?
The Esab seems like a good deal. It and the 250 will come with used warranty(welding shop)
What do you guys think.
I'm leaning towards the T/A 185 even though it's about $800.00 more than the Esab.I'd like to have a Dynasty,Thats a lot of money
The Miller road show is in Lexington Ky. Nov. the 5th. Hope to check it out.
Thanks
Doug
