  • Hobart 150 mig

    hello peeps,

i have searched back thru this forum and i cant find any info on a Hobart 150 mig???

i bought this unit a couple years ago and have only used it maybe a 1/2 dozen times for fixing a riding mower and other light stuff and i have had it boxed up til now

couple questions.......why has hobart discontinued that particular model and only offer a 135 and 175 in comparable ranges?

is there something negative about this model im not aware of?

i bought this to eventually do heavier welding and this runs off a 220 plug and can weld up to 1/4" metal...so they claim

is this unit powerful enough to do frame welding on my Jeep using fluxcore .035 wire?

and if anyone else has this particular model,id appreciate a comment on its overall performance

sofar,im pleased with it but want to use and take it to another level of welding

thanks in advance for any comments

oh yea.....where's the best/closest site to buy wire and tips and have them shipped to north Arizona?

Hobart(Miller) Does that often every few years....Newer Ideas and Equipment comes in to place....Lincoln Too....but Miller is the worst at doing that *hah* ......but you got a problem with the machine? Maybe I can help you out there......Where can we chat?

        hi hobby,
thanks for replying.....actually..im not having problems with it...yet......i have some shock brackets im adding to it and 1/4" would be the limit im thinking unless im making multiple passes using .035" wire...correct? these brackets are going on the frame which is bigger than 1/4" thick...im wondering if this machine is just a hair too light of a mig welder ?

here's another thing ive wondered about...do they make an eye guard that goes over or mounts on the handle of a mig welder that gives the same eye protection as a head worn unit,as far as eye protection goes?

        thanks in advance!

I have seen MIG torch mount welding lens holders for sale.
Can't tell who was advertising it.
          I wouldn't have one.

CJ79...........Yes I recall the units.............Give me the serial number and I can give Born on Date and specification number if you desire...........................If you don't have the manual one can be obtained for it.............made that unit from about 1995 to 1999.

As with all things new ideas, new cost reductions, improved performance, reduced weight, energy cost reductions and better componants dictate continual improvements...........

I actually welded with one once and thought the performance was good.........................Be safe...........................Rock..
