I just go in from running a few beads using this dual shield wire with a 75/25 mixture. I was not disappointed, welds easy, beads look good(I will post photos soon). I plan on building a few gates out of sq. tubing and this is what I will use. My question is-- What upkeep does this wire require-- I usually do my welding on weekends, so will it hurt to leave wire on machine in my shop or should I remove and rebag? All help appreciated.

Based on your location, Humidity Central USA, you will probably be best served to rebag the wire and include a desicant sack in the bag to prevent rust formation on the wire.

CHUCK W..... I agree with franz high humidity equals lots of moisture and surface rust............. Not good for welding consumables like stick electrodes, wire, etc...........

      Be safe..............Rock..

Chuck, glad to hear that you like the wire. I was a little nervous when I saw that you were going with this wire since I had never used it before, and only stated in my E mail to you that the voltage and amperage requirements looked good for running on a MM 210. Now, since you are stating that it performs well, I ll have to get myself a roll too. By the way how big of a roll did you end up getting?

          Dan,
I was unable to locate this size wire at a distributor, checked all in Baton rouge and Hammond, LA. So I contacted Hobart Brothers, who where very helpful. They gave me the name and number to a local hobart district manager. He arranged for a 33lb spool to be shipped in from their warehouse in Huston. I got a call at work and it was delivered to me at work. I must say, Thanks to the Hobart Brothers.

I agree 100%, at work we used a copper coated wire and even that will start showing signs of rust over a long weekend. Throw a bag over the spool even when it is still on the machine and use the desicant for long term storage.

Another suggestion relative to humid locations, condensation tends to not occurr in moving air. You could always install a small computer type muffin fan in the wire compartment of the machine so there is constant air flow over the wire.
