Hypertherm Plasma Torch
While this thread was originally for a Hypertherm plasma torch, I would imagine you could just as easily type in "welder" in the Business & Industrial section of the eBay search engine and come up with more hits than you would want to wade through in one sitting. You could cut down the hits by adding AC/DC, TIG, MIG, new, used, etc.
Just looked on eBay to see if the seller I purchased my plasma cutter from was listed. He doesn't have any auctions going right now. I tried him for prices on a Miller 251 w/spoolgun and he was higher than what I could purchase locally.
Some sellers offer warrantees on used equipment, others don't. Before I would think about placing a bid on any of these auctions I would e-mail the seller, if they appear to be a business, and see what they are willing to sell a like machine for. I've tried this on a number of different pieces of equipment and it has led to cheaper prices as well as a number of other leads on other equipment. Nobody really enjoys using eBay all that much if there is the opportunity to purchase cheaper elsewhere or to make a sale without paying eBay's fee. Hope this helps.

Hypertherm Plasma Torch.
I don't know if the company is still as lean and hungry as what they were when I bought my 900 from them, but the salesman, James Mower, working for Norco out of Kalispell, MT was cheaper than every other dealer out there. Actually, his prices were still cheaper even after shipping had been factored in. Beat my local dealer by $650 and that was before the sales tax had been figured in for the local buy. Mower sells on eBay as well, but a quick e-mail to him resulted in prices that were cheaper than the eBay starting bids. Hope this helps.

The price does sound too high. Paid $1800 for a model 900 back before they were discontinued and the 1000 came in. Wyoming

I'd start at $600 after you verify it works fine and show him the $999 for the new 380 unit. The 350 was disco'd ... a while ago.

personally, I'd pass on it. if you look on eBay you can get a brand new 380 for $999 most of the time.
