  • Auto helmet with CLEAR shade in off?

I have a Huntsman auto shade lid which is a couple of years old now. I believe it's adjustable from 9 to 13, but still in the "off" state it's tinted green. In the U.K. there's a helmet (forget which) which has a truly clear off state. That would be great for me since my eyesight is pretty bad. Any other "true" clear lenses out there?

would a magnifier "cheater" lense help maybe or is your problem purely the light intensity or lack there of? I know they sell add on magnifier lenses for quite a few helmets.

I always find that I struggle to get comfortable with the start of a weld and have to set up backlighting to get a clearer look. I reckon a clear lens -versus the heavy green tint more typical in the off mode - would help in that situation. I don't think a magnifier would help, but I can give it a try.

      Thanks.

A few years ago light state was shade 4 or 5 now light state is shade 2.75 to 3. This is big improvement but a little lighter would be better still.
