Turns out my TIG might not be coming after all If you had to choose between an esab 150 mini arc and a Miller Maxstar 91, which would you choode and why? I know the esab has 230 capability, but I'll never use it. ESAB is $100 more, but that's not really an issue.

Does the Maxstar have the snapstart?I kind of wonder about the Swedish Esabs, some are pretty good, and others kind of scare me.I do Know at the sheetmetal shop I go to, they have a two or three older Maxstars 91 that are super reliable. Are they both new or used?

Have you looked at the Thermal-arc pee-wee?

Both are used and base units with clamp and rod holder, but no torch. I'm just looking for a smaller (and cheaper) unit to learn on and see if I like TIG. The Maxstar is $400 and the ESAB is $500 so at the price figured if I end up selling it in 6 months, I won't be out much, if anything.

DELETEALL.................If it was me I would head on down and set down with both units.............Test weld with them then you decide which unit you like the best...............After all it is your hard earned cash your spending......................Enjoy the decision makeing process.............Rock...............
