  • Older Miller Mig

I have the opportunity to buy an older Miller mig welder and would like some input.... The only thing the guy knows is it is a 250 amp unit that is 220 volt single phase. He says he tried using it with some rusty wire and welded fine, but now the liner is ruined. What is involved with / cost of replacing the liner? Are there other things I should be worried about? He's asking $250. Seem like a good deal?

    Thanks....

Liners are inexpensive ($20-$25) and easy to replace.

$250 for a 250 amp mig? Is it stolen?

My suggestion would be that you look at the machine, and get the model number. You also shold check to determine that all the drive rollers and other parts are with the machine, the gun is in decent shape etc.
It almost sounds like you're talking about an MM 225, and if you are, and it's all there, and runs, fork over the $250- and haul the machine home.
The liner can be easily blown out with compressed air, and even if you have to replace it, big deal, you still aren't into the machine for $300-.

Too bad you missed it- sounded like a great deal.
