How far back do the archives at Miller go. There is a really old Miller spot welder in the basement where I work(a hardware store--- go figure). I tried some time ago to use it and it doesn't work. I am going to get numbers off of it Wed. and I will post ASAP. Thanks in advance.

The numbers I could find are H141672. If anything is available as far as manuals that would probably be the place to start otherwise maybe with your help I can figure out how it works or if it works. Let me know. Thanks.

VWGUY3, I checked the serial number on your spot welder. It looks like it was born on June 4 1959. It is called a Lectrospot 22 and its primary hook up is 230 volt. I checked with Ellen in manuals and all we have is the parts manual. Hope this helps you out.

Not sure that I really want to venture here, but I have circuit diagrams, parts breakdown and list for The Lectro Spot series spot welder. I do not how ever have one that dates back to 1959. The oldest one I have is 1972 and a Literature sheet for a 1966. I doubt they changed much. If the unit has a timer and that timer is bad it is no longer available. Other than that a spot welder is AC primary power going into a step down transformer, lowering the output voltage to approximately 2.5vac and raising the amperage way up. There are flexible braids that transfer this power to the tong clamps that transfer it through the tongs to the spot welder tips, completeing the electrical circuit thrugh the material being spot wleded, fusing it together.

The unit has a timer on the back and a light below that. the light comes on but when you press down to bring the tongs together and make the weld it does nothing(it is contacting and depressing the switch on top). Any ideas? let me know if you need more info. Thanks guys. Mike

COPPER GETS A GREEN SCALE ON IT THAT INSULATES IT FROM THE DISSAMILAR METALS THAT CLAMP THEM............ALSO UNSCREW THE TIPS AND CHECK FOR THE SAME CORROSION ON THE THREADS........ALSO CALL MIKE AND HAVE HIM FAX YOU THE SCHEMATIC THAT SHOULD HELP.........ROCK........................

                  vwguy,

Give me a call at 920-831-4898. Although what I have here is not for the actual serial number of spotwelder you have it should be very close and we can figure it out if need be, but if the timer is not functioning you probably won't be able to do much with it.

Ok checked the tips-- clean as a whistle
                    checked open voltage--zip
pushed the switch multiple times and it arced maybe 1 out of 5 times on the back side of the timer(or in that area as far as I could see)
Did not have a chance to call yet still on the clock.
