  • Hey Rock, new pulsed mig?

    Hey Rock,
Just read about the new 'accupulse' pulsed GMAW technology that Miller is developing. They state that their new inverter-based mig supply will be available this summer. Any idea when in the summer? I want to give that new girl a whirl! Are they going to have it on the miller truck for demos this summer? Too bad Scott is still using old technology. He'll probably end up selling more Lincoln and Esab stuff to buy true blue!

Hey dseman,do you think it will be a real leap forward like the Miller pulser? If it works better, and the been counters don't get to it,I am game.I kind of like the middle of the road in tech stuff. The Lincoln is just that.(chopper)I am also looking at another Miller welder,a 200.

The name of the units will be the AXCESS 450 systems. They will be based on a 450 amp platform. They are available for sale now and I will have Dave Almy the welding engineer from the Inverter group give more of the details about the unit.

There you go again, comparing apples to boomerangs. No transformer based pulsed mig will compare with an inverter based machine with microprocessor control. I look at this as being a step up from the invision series, and for the sake of your comparison, a BIG step up from the millermatic pulser--which is not truly in the same league.

desman,You keep missing the point!you are the one that brought up old tech.My point is if the old stuff works why change? Also the weld beads compare very nicely with a inverter. The Lincoln is is a transformer machine as far as I can tell. or it has the biggest Mos fet,IGBT I have ever seen.

I guess I don't understand your point. If you are happy with transformers , then I'm happy that you're happy. If you call the lincoln transformers new technology then I can't stop you from interpreting it that way. The lincoln 'power mig' is not a scr-controlled transformer machine as is the millermatic pulser. If you continue to see them as identical in engineering where 1 company made it right and the other didn't .....well then I think you are making an incorrect comparison. But if that's how you see things....well, again, that's up to you.

              AXCESS 450

              dseman
The Axcess 450 will be available right around the end of July for full release. Miller is now in a roll out area throughout the mid west. The power source will not get to the Roadshow truck till next year. The Accupulse process that is in this product has had great results and the end user feed back has been great. I guess the best way to decribe it is a fixed frequency adaptive pulse. This power source will also have our other pulse modes available for users that want to use it. The Axcess is a little different set up compared to our current pulse equipment, there will be all wire, gas, process selectable from the front panel. It's a pretty powerfull piece of equipment with a user friendly front interface panel. Hopefully you'll get to use one soon. Look forward to getting some feed back.

Thanks for the reply Dave. I'll have to keep my eye out for it this summer.

Steve: Got a ? for you. One of the companies I work for does alot of clad welding with Inconel on boiler tube panels 20-30ft long x 6-8ft wide curently are just using suit case type migs. Could or would these pulsers help. They stand these pnls. up and weld them in downhand stringers. Looking for cleaner looking welds(no pin holes) and cut down some of the constant cleaning of the pnls. Seems like the inconel won't even weld thru the smoke dust. thanks Stu-169

Maybe the Accupulse will help out with the Inconel cladding. We do have a couple of end users that are running Inconel wires on the system now. This week, one of the guys I work with is going to run some Inconel samples, I'll give it a look and let you know how the transfer is with the different process available in the Axcess. I'll talk with you by the end of the week.
